Board Meeting

Date: 11/20/2024 @ 2:30pm

I. Payout Discussion – Championship Match

a. Pay 6-6 on Net/Gross with $200 paid for the 6 places in both the Gross and Net Championship. All members signed up for the two weeks scheduled for the Club Championship will play in the Club Championship. The club will no longer offer the Gross Champion the option to play in the SCGA Club Championship.

b. Motion was made, seconded and passed.

II. Djiscussion of continued effort to hire someone to set up a club web page.

a. Motion was made, seconded and passed to continue with Website with up to $250 for set up cost.

III. Food discussion

a. Intro of Sandwich or hotdog lunch at general membership meetings and both the Presidents Cup and Club Championship.

i. Motion was made, seconded and passed.

IV. Meeting adjourned 3pm.

 

9/27/23 General Membership Annual Meeting Minutes

23 members attended the meeting and had a bountiful lunch.

The Board amended Bylaws were discussed & a motion made to accept them. The motion passed.

Board Members reported on their activity:

            Tom asked we report our golf scores promptly with the correct date played, and hole by hole or 9-hole scores.

Paul shared the we usually have 25 players weekly and 40 would be more workable. So, remember to invite members to try our free 60 membership as set up by Michael.

Gary reported that we have over $5,000 in the bank.

All 8 Board Members volunteered to retain in their position for the 2023-2024 year ending Sept. 2024. As no one else volunteered to run  for a board position,  a motion was made to accept the current board members for the next term. The motion passed.

Lee asked that someone volunteer to Count the $10 money paid weekly by players and to turn it in to the staff in the golf shop. Thanks, Andy Yates, for volunteering.

A discussion occurred about the possibility of have a social event with spouses/girlfriends invited. There was little interest and the commit made by one member captured the dominant mood, “We joined a man’s club to get away from our wife.”

A discussion occurred about the possibility of have the option of playing golf from the red tees with one’s handicap being adjusted accordingly. A motion was made to have this option available. The motion passed.

A discussion occurred about the possibility of having more opportunity for members to enjoy each other socially via occasional food & drinks, e.g., a hot dog, chips & a drink,  shared together at the golf course after a round of golf, paid for by the men’ club. A motion was made for this to occur and for a shotgun game to be played that day so all golfers finish golf at the same time. The motion passed. Lee with check with Gary, the GM, to see if the shotgun game is possible.

A discussion occurred about the possibility of limiting the number of  putts per green to two when we play Scrabble, the idea being this would increase our pace of play.  A motion was made to have this option available. The motion did not pass.

A discussion occurred about the Club Championship needing changes for increased member participation.  A motion was made to have all players play from the gold tees and to have a gross and net champion. The motion passed.

A  moment of silence was held, Resultant from Steve Henthorn asking  for such for us to honor the recent passing of a club member, Doug Hausman.

 

Minutes of Oceanside Wednesdays Men’s Golf Club Board Member

 11/15/23 Meeting

The President, Lee will create  our own web page provided by the Southern California Golf Ass. Genius program with our Competition Rules & Procedures, Directors names and phone numbers, Bylaws, & past meeting minutes posted.

Our golf club will provide food & drink  to members at the golf course after golf for socialization. This will occur at the Fall Annual Membership Meeting, and at the newly created annual President Club Award Meeting.

 On our closest to the hole contest, the ball on the green closest to the hole wins.

To encourage new members to continue to play often when they do not, new members will be told by our Membership Director, Michael  in his welcoming letter that they can request to our Tournament Director, John  to play with a person of choice and an effort will be made by John in that respect.  Also, the President, Lee will send an email to any new member who does not continue to play often, encouraging them to do so, and reminding them that they can request to play with a person of choice.

To help members understand Posting Scores, in our Competition Rules & Procedures, where Adjusted score is noted as being double bogey will  add, “If unsure, refer to Adjusted score in USGA or double bogie on You Tube.”

 When a long-term member passes, flowers will be provided to the family.

 Our annual Club Championship  will have both a Gross & Net Champion, with the Gross Champion eligible to play in  the SCGA Club Championship, where the admission fee is paid for by our club. In both the Gross Championship Tournaments 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be paid, and in  the Net Championship 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place will be paid. All members signed up for the two weeks scheduled for the Club Championship will play in the Club Championship.

 All members signed up on the day of the first round of the President’s  Cup will play in the first round of the annual President’s
